California Whitewater River Rafting Trips
with Mariah Wilderness Expeditions

Since 1982, as one of the original of the California whitewater rafting companies, Mariah Wilderness Expeditions began to explore many of the California river destinations. We are now proud to say to we have led half-day to three-day white water rafting adventures on the South Fork American, Middle Fork American, North Fork American, Merced, Kings and Tuolumne rivers.

CHOOSE YOUR OWN CALIFORNIA RAFTING TRIP:
Mariah Wilderness takes you around California’s exciting and beautiful, easy to advanced-level whitewater rafting rivers, each offering a different array of scenery and challenge.

You may choose from over eight different rafting trips on the classic, Class III South Fork American River. ½-day, 1-day, and overnight trips are offered. Family Rafting with Goldpanning, Winery Touring and Rafting, and a Women-Only Adventure are available. You can choose from three different trips on the Class II-IV+ Middle Fork American. Advanced rafters may enjoy the Class IV+ North Fork American river. If you are traveling in Yosemite you may hop on the Class III-IV Merced River which winds through pine forests and a deep gorge. The Class III Kings River is a high desert river whose banks are lined with Cottonwood trees. The Class IV Tuolumne River is another classic, considered to have one of the top ten rapids in the United States. The Upper Tuolumne known as Cherry Creek is a solid Class V.

Take advantage of our large, comfortable base camp on the shores of the South Fork American River and enjoy an evening of wine tasting during hors d'oeuvres and dinner, campfire and sleeping under the stars. Overnight in one of our unique Tent-Cabins, play a game of volleyball, horseshoes and ping pong, and take a hot shower.

American River Rafting

California’s American River has become one of the most popular whitewater rafting destinations in the United States. The American River is divided into three separate forks, each forming its own river, each having its own unique features. The South Fork American is 21 miles long and excellent as an introductory-intermediate river. The Middle Fork American is 18 miles long and is well-known for its intermediate-level rapids including the famous Tunnel Chute. The North Fork American is 9 miles long and is for experienced rafters.
